Jennifer Stanley is a health and welfare attorney and employee benefits strategist who helps employers and their advisors navigate the legal, regulatory, and operational complexities of employee benefits.
Jennifer brings a unique perspective to benefits compliance, having worked across multiple sides of the benefits ecosystem. Her experience advising employers, plan sponsors, benefits consultants, brokers, TPAs, PBMs, and other service providers gives her a practical understanding of not only what the law requires, but how benefits decisions, contracts, compliance obligations, and vendor relationships work in practice.
Her work includes employer-sponsored health and welfare plan strategy, fiduciary responsibilities, TPA and PBM oversight, vendor evaluation and contracting, RFP development, negotiation strategy, HIPAA compliance, service provider compensation and disclosure requirements, and benefits-related legal and operational risk. She is known for translating complex legal and technical issues into clear, practical guidance that employers and their advisors can put into action.
Before founding StanleyKup Legal & Compliance in 2022, Jennifer held legal and compliance roles with national and boutique benefits organizations, including Marsh & McLennan Agency, Holmes Murphy, and Alera Group. She has also served as General Counsel for a boutique benefits broker and as Of Counsel to benefits brokers and service providers.
Jennifer is actively involved in the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP), where she serves as Vice Chair of the National Legislative Council. She has served multiple terms as President of the Dallas chapter and has been a member of the NABIP Texas Legislative Council for eight years.
Jennifer earned her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law, where she received a Certificate in Health Law and was a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and, earlier in her career, participated in Phase 3 clinical research trials at the Cooper Institute of Dallas, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and the Liver Institute of Methodist Dallas.
Jennifer is licensed to practice law in Texas and holds a Texas General Lines Life, Accident, Health, and HMO license.
